THOWRA

‘Thowra’ (Arabic for revolution) was produced in the winter of 2011, a period of historic uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa. The predictable cycling of seasons was interrupted by remarkable courage and the spilled blood of martyrs.

That same winter, marked the worldwide observations of blackbirds falling from the sky, an eclipse, and the blowing away of corruption, stagnation, and tyranny. Thowra is both a commemoration and a pointed reminder of the sacrifice of so many. Graced in the colors of revolution, and noted by the perfect storm of events, Thowra serves as a reminder of what was sacrificed for this season of change.
