An Act of Possession

"An Act of Possession" is constructed from a travel trunk first manufactured in 1948. The now hollowed-out luggage reflects the impossibility of containing or carrying one's possessions. The tangible spaces and keepsakes that provide a sense of belonging—homeland, home, or many personal items of significance, cannot be transported. Robbed of its functionality, the cutout trunk panels signal a transparent, framed shell of its former self.
